Forming in late 2008 and completing it’s line-up early 2009, Gold Coast death metal band Widow The Sea are already proving to be one of Australia’s most talked about and exciting extreme new acts. Relying more on the Swedish death metal sound of fast melodic guitars, technical drumming and vicious vocals, Widow The Sea continue to break down saturated formulas of generic clichés seen in recent years. Featuring present and past members of international touring bands The Berzerker, I Killed The Prom Queen (vocals for 3 month European tour) and City In Panic, Widow The Sea show no signs of slowing their rapid rise to the ranks of their international counterparts. 

The release of the debut EP ‘Novella Of The Ocean’ has become one of 2010’s most intense and aggressive heavy releases and has reached another level in Australian extreme music. Recorded at Complex Studios by Roman Klaus Koester of The Red Shore and mastered by Swedish producer Goran Finnberg (At The Gates, Darkest Hour, The Haunted) Widow The Sea are continuing their onslaught of crushing, modern death metal. The 2010 filmclip to ‘The Nameless City’ only adding more fuel to this already raging fire.

2010 saw the band’s continual rise with a host of international supports including:

The Black Dahlia Murder, Unearth, Darkest Hour, Deez Nuts, Carnifex and countless sold out headline shows. 2011 is already well underway with a full national tour completed with legendary international death metal band Devolved. 

At the end of 2011 the band's vocalist Colin Jeffs left the band on good terms to pursue his other musical commitments. Widow The Sea are currently searching for a new vocalist to complete writing for the new album and to tour in 2012.
